Research

For researchers, the Sarphati Cohort is a valuable source of data for studying healthy childhood development. What makes the Sarphati Cohort unique is its flexibility, unlike traditional cohorts.

This allows for:

  • Adding and updating new variables and measurement tools
  • Starting a subcohort at any time
  • Conducting randomized interventions in a subcohort where:
  1. The population can be selected based on desired characteristics.
  2. An excellent control group is available.
  3. The possibility to collect biological samples.
  4. Having control over non-response and insight into selective participation
  5. Ensuring long-term and frequent follow-up of many children

Researchers can, under certain conditions, use the data from the Sarphati Cohort.

Check here for information on the process of requesting data or setting up a subcohort.

Within Sarphati Amsterdam, we pool our knowledge and expertise to contribute to the health of children in Amsterdam. An important aspect of this is bringing together (healthcare) professionals from research, policy, and practice on a relevant theme.

Sarphati Amsterdam regularly organizes meetings where researchers can meet. These can include broader symposia on healthy childhood development or sessions focusing on specific themes such as sleep, exercise, nutrition, or oral health. The meetings provide researchers the opportunity to expand their network, learn about the questions and issues in ‘JGZ’ practice, and stay updated on the latest developments.

You can view the results of completed and ongoing Sarphati Cohort research at the meetings and participate in discussions on relevant themes.
